In 2022, we hosted a six-part virtual public lecture series as part of the UCSF Osher Mini Medical School for the Public program. The series, titled The Human Microbiome - Exploring the Potential to Predict, Prevent and Treat Disease, included lectures by BCMM faculty and covered topics ranging from early life microbiomes, diet, gut-brain axis, big data, skin health, and mood. Recordings of the lectures are provided below.
How to Build a Microbiome – Early Life Microbiomes and Their Implications for Children’s Health
Presenter: Susan Lynch, PhD
Description: Dr. Lynch explains how research into the microbiome and how infant microbiomes influence childhood health.
Can Big (Microbiome) Data Save the World? – Using AI and Microbiome Data to Predict Health Outcomes
Presenter: Marina Sirota, PhD
Description: Dr. Sirota explains how to use artificial intelligence to study the microbiome and better understand health and disease across the lifespan.
They Are What You Eat - How Food and Drugs Interact with the Gut Microbiome
